German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will launch its Ultra HD/4K channel Sky Sport Bundesliga UHD on October 14, 2016 with the live transmission of the Bundesliga game Borussia Dortmund vs. Hertha BSC.
Sky Deutschland will then broadcast one Bundesliga match live in UHD per week via satellite in collaboration with Astra Deutschland and on some cable networks.
The next Bundesliga matches to be shown in UHD will be Hamburger SV vs. Eintracht Frankfurt on October 21, 2016 and Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. Eintracht Frankfurt on October 28, 2016.
Sky Sport UHD will launch on October 18, 2016 with the live transmission of the UEFA Champions League game Bayer Leverkusen vs. Tottenham Hotspurs. Further selected Champions League matches and other live sports will follow.
The receiver Sky+ Pro required for reception in addition to an UHD TV set is available to existing and new Sky customers via cable and satellite from now on for a one-off fee of €99 for the duration of their subscription.
With the set-top-box, subscribers can also watch movies in UHD resolution through Sky On Demand downloaded onto the hard-disk overnight. The first titles are Hotel Transylvania 2, The Walk, Salt and Evil Dead.
All Sky Deutschland customers with a Premium HD subscription can access the broadcaster’s UHD offer free of charge for 12 months corresponding with the programme package they signed up for.
