The Czech Nova Group has secured exclusive rights to Wimbledon for a further two years.
As a result, it will be able to offer coverage of the tennis tournament on the premium sports channels Nova Sport 1 and Nova Sport 2, as well as the online portal Voyo, up until 2019.
Commenting on the development, Alex Ruzek, programme director at Nova, said: “Wimbledon is an important and popular sports event that fits perfectly into our strategy. Both our premium Nova Sport channels offer attractive and exclusive sports content. I am glad that the most prestigious tennis tournament will be broadcast on the most watched Czech TV stations of the Nova group”.
Mick Desmond, commercial and media director of the All England Club at Wimbledon, added: “We are happy with the the resumption of broadcasting partnership with the Nova group. It’s good news for us and for Czech and Slovak sports fans, who will be able to watch all the exciting matches at Wimbledon, including many top Czech and Slovak players, live for the next two years”.
Nova Group is owned by Central Euroepan Media Enterprises (CME) and the leading broadcaster in the Czech Republic.
