ProSiebenSat.1 to launch FTA docu channel in September

Kabel1-Doku_Logo_rgb_sw_posGerman media company ProSiebenSat.1 will launch free-to-air documentary channel kabel eins Doku on September 22, 2016.

The highlight on the first day will be the documentary series The American West with Hollywood actor Robert Redford which kabel eins Doku will air as a German TV debut. The 8-part series focuses on key events in US history in the three decades following the end of the Civil War in 1865 and includes interviews with fellow actors such as Tom Selleck, Mark Harmon and Kiefer Sutherland.

Further international productions screened as German TV debuts will be Unreported World, Difficult Destinations and Dangerous Grounds. Each evening will focus on a specific topic, spanning from history and real crime to nature and technology.

The ad-supported channel which will show documentaries 24 hours per day will be offered as a free-of-charge, unencrypted digital service via cable, satellite and IPTV. The technical reach will amount to more than 60% of German TV households at launch with distribution to be gradually expanded, according to ProSiebenSat.1.
