Samsung is looking to get into the gaming market by bringing two games apps onto its Smart TV platform.
GameFly Streaming and PlayStation Now are available immediately from its Smart TV hub. A promotional offer will give purchasers of selected Samsung Smart TVs a three-month HD games subscription to GameFly Streaming and a complementary controller.
Samsung says its line up of 2016 SUHD TV’s is ideal for casual and pro gamers alike; equipped with a 10-bit Quantum dot display.
Rhian James, Content Product Manager, Samsung UK & Ireland said: “At Samsung, we are committed to giving people the best home entertainment experience possible, and our gaming offering is just one of the ways in which we aim to achieve that. We are delighted to be working with GameFly Streaming and PS Now, and look forward to helping Smart TV users get even closer to the game.”
Pay-TV platforms played with the introduction of gaming in the late 1990s, but the available processing power in the set-top boxes, and the reluctance of games companies to part with their most recent product put pay to a long term future.
But times change and PS Now offers a library of more than 180 games over cloud technology; GameFly Streaming bundles start at £6.99 a month.
