Nearly one in four (24%) of Polish internet users actively watch the most popular TV series online.
In a study about the viewing habits of such users, described as ‘seryjni’, MEC found them to be largely male (57%), with the two most represented age groups being 25-34 (25%) and 15-24 (23%).
Two thirds of them watched full-length videos several times a week and one in four on a daily basis.
The most watched series were Game of Thrones (75%), followed by Vikings (57%), Sherlock (51%) and House of Cards (43%).
Binge viewing was also popular, with 37% admitting to watching at least shows in a row and 11% at least five.
Furthermore, over 80% used streaming services and a third programmes from torrents.
However, the latter did not stop ‘seryjni’ from paying for online content, with 40% choosing to do so.
They also stated a preference for US content (75%), followed by British (40%), Polish (23%) and Scandinavian (16%).
HBO was the most favoured producer of series (71%, followed by the BBC (41%), Fox (40%), AXN (34%) and Universal (32%).
The MEC study was undertaken this month, with the participation of 2,000 internet users.
