Netflix will only become a significant player in the Hungarian TV market if it offers more content dubbed or subtitled into the local language.
Furthermore, reports BBJ, citing research by eNet, it will have to lower its subscription fee and show a wider variety of programming.
The research also shows that Netflix, which made its debut in Hungary at the beginning of this year, is not currently a major threat to local service providers because relatively few people are taking advantage of the free trial period.
Hungarians are avid TV series and movie viewers and, adds the research, can be satisfied with a wide range of programming, shown round the clock and without commercials.
However, the language barrier remains an obstacle and one that Netflix will have to overcome.
