TV ad spend in Russia fell by 14% to R136.7 billion (€1.7 billion) in 2015, according to data published by the Russian Association of Communication Agencies (AKAR).
While that for main channels was down by 14% to R134.2 million, thematic channels saw a 38% reduction to R2.5 billion.
The only ad sector that saw growth in Russia in 2015 was the internet, with spend increasing by 15% to R97 billion.
Total ad spend amounted to R307.5 billion, which was 10% down on a year earlier, and spend on marketing services also fell by 10%, to R88.3 billion.
Meanwhile, regional TV ad spend, excluding the Moscow region, fell by 19% in 2015 to R21 billion.
However, local reports earlier this week point to a recovery in the Russian ad market in the first quarter of this year.
