German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has increased its number of subscribers in Q1 2015/16 (July 1-September 30, 2014) by 94,000 to a total of 4.37 million.
The growth has been slightly lower than in the same period last year in which 96,000 new customers were added. The churn rate decreased by 0.4% to 9.0%.
The turnover rose by 9% to €470 million. However, Sky recorded a loss of €11.2 million after a profit of €12 million was achieved in Q1 2014/15. The reasons, according to the broadcaster, are the rising football costs and the new valuation of the expected programme costs better reflecting the non-linear usage of Sky’s new on-demand service.
