Media Broadcast will show its DVB-T2 and DAB+ developments at this year’s ANGA COM.
Media Broadcast’s presentationat this year’s ANGA COM includes the construction of a pioneering DVB-T2 platform, the development of new digital radio broadcasting network in Germany as well as innovative, IP-based delivery solutions for the broadcast sector with regards to contribution and distribution of media content.
“Using DAB + and DVB-T TV and radio stations reach today more than 90% of the population in Germany. Terrestrial reception is simple, possible everywhere and extremely inexpensive. It offers content providers significant ranges with defined Quality of Service. Media Broadcast is setting the course for the future, driving the expansion of terrestrial technologies for television and radio ahead,” explained Wolfgang Breuer, CEO of Media Broadcast.
One of the highlights of the ANGA COM is the development of digital terrestrial television. Media Broadcast is working hard on the construction of the pioneering DVB-T2 platform in Germany. In addition, the platform will include hybrid services that can be received via the internet on the TV set.
The state media authorities have allocated Media Broadcast to operate a digital terrestrial television DVB-T2 platform. The new platform is expected to launch with private broadcasters in Q1 2017. Pilot projects in Berlin, Munich and Cologne (last summer 2015) with partners from the manufacturing industry and broadcasters are preparing the launch of the DVB-T2 platform.
The entry into DVB-T2 is also the subject of two technical panels at ANGA COM.
The expansion plans of the DAB+ platform for 2015 provide for the commissioning of 24 transmitter sites by the end of 2015. 85 stations throughout Germany are already active. Thus Media Broadcast met already this year – two years earlier than required – the expansion requirements of the Federal Network Agency. After completion of the beginning in May 2015 stage digital radio is already more than 110 stations distributed end of 2016. Thus Media Broadcast achieves in-home-care by 82%.
Another focus of the trade fair presence are the Broadcast Network Services (BNS) of Media Broadcast. The exchange platform for content providers and stations allows the transmission of video, data and audio signals to the broadcast community with bandwidths of up to 1 Gbit / s in Evaluation, with booked or cyclical circuits and permanent connections to DVB, IPTV and streaming platforms. Exclusively available bandwidth, high transmission security and a secure network infrastructure with a service availability of 99.95% meet all professional requirements of the media industry. More than 130 partners are on the BNS Media Broadcast.
Further focus for ANGA COM are IP-based networks for contribution and distribution in the media sector. Media Broadcast has recently changed the mode of production for permanent video connections, thus ensuring the future viability in supplying content to modern headends. With the new product Video Broadcast IP links are now cost-effective, IP-based video connections for the supply of linear TV programs to DVB and IP platforms. The Broadcast Video IP links are based on permanent data connections via Ethernet with variable data rates up to 10 Mbit / s. Copper and fiber-optic lines provide an area-wide availability. An encoding of the source signal in the desired distribution format ensures maximum flexibility. The new service also works very efficiently, since a decoding in Headend omitted. The Broadcast IP video links support MPEG2 and MPEG4 and are already prepared for the extension to HEVC.
