Switzerland’s largest cable operator UPC Cablecom has expanded its new subscription video-on-demand (VOD) service MyPrime by movies and TV series from German rights dealer Tele München Gruppe.
The package includes films like Dirty Dancing, Basic Instinct, Shutter Island and the Twilight franchise as well as series like Anger Management, Hot in Cleveland, Haven and Rookie Blue.
For a flat monthly fee of CHF9.95 (€8.25), MyPrime offers movies, series, documentaries and children’s programmes from distributors like ABC Studios, the BBC and CBS Studio International. In some bundle packages, the service is included a no extra charge.
By the end of 2014, UPC Cablecom wants to provide more than 10,000 films and series on its VOD portal which the company launched in early September 2014 to counter the local roll-out of US competitor Netflix in Switzerland.
