Telecom Liechtenstein rolls out Zattoo IPTV service

Zattoo-B2B-TelecomLI-AllDevices-20140909Telecom Liechtenstein went live this week with an end-to-end multiscreen IPTV platform fully hosted and managed by Swiss internet TV solutions provider Zattoo.

The partnership with Telecom Liechtenstein announced in May 2014 makes Zattoo the first technology service provider in Europe to assume all hosting and management of a multiscreen IPTV solution on behalf of a network operator and internet service provider.

Telecom Liechtenstein relies on Zattoo’s technical implementation, operation and management from satellite reception to provision of the entire technical platform comprising live TV, catch-up TV and a recording function. Zattoo’s white label service also covers front ends (TV, iOS, Android, browsers) and life cycle management of the set-top boxes.

ABOX42, a German provider of IPTV and OTT set-top-boxes, supplies the consumer receivers. The boxes support typical DVB-C features such as HbbTV.

“Today’s modern customers also want to enjoy live TV on their second screens such as tablets and smartphones. And they expect time-shifted viewing and TV recording as standard features,” said Markus Willi, president of the administrative board at Telecom Liechtenstein. “Developing and operating a system of this kind would be an extremely complex, time-intensive process. That’s why we chose Zattoo as our technology service provider: They have proven that they can not only develop a high-quality IPTV product, but also operate it for us.”

Zattoo has already deployed a number of B2B projects for international cable operators, MNOs and telcos in the past three years, for example Post Luxemburg, Orange Switzerland, Quickline Switzerland and netplus.ch Switzerland.

At upcoming TV technology trade fair IBC 2014 in Amsterdam (Hall 14, J.05) Zattoo will provide a live demonstration of the Telecom Liechtenstein multiscreen IPTV solution as well as other reference projects.
