Austrian public broadcaster ORF will expand its HD line-up.
ORF will launch HD versions of its thematic channels ORF III and ORF Sport+ as well as the regional Bundesland heute windows to be simulcast in high definition from October 26, 2014.
DTH satellite households will be able to receive ORF III HD and ORF Sport+ HD using the ORF smartcard via Astra (19.2° East). The channels will also be distributed terrestrially in Austria on DVB-T2 platform simpliTV.
Bundesland heute will be available in HD quality on Astra and simpliTV as well.
ORF eins has been broadcasting in high definition since June 2008 and ORF 2 since December 2009 with the exception of the Bundesland heute windows.
According to ORF, two million Austrians regularly watch the ORF channels in HD quality.
