DNA launches multiscreen platform on Adrenalin

March 12, 2014 15.56 Europe/London By Julian Clover

DNA HeadquartersThe Finnish Telco and cablenet DNA has launched a new on demand television service based around the SeaChange Adrenalin multi-screen television software platform.

DNA Welho Viihde (‘DNA Welho Entertainment’) includes the SF Anytime movie rental store with thousands of movies from major studios. DNA Welho Viihde is immediately available to over 600,000 households connected to DNA’s cable network, and to anyone living within reach of DNA’s terrestrial TV network, altogether covering 85% of Finnish households.

SeaChange’s Professional Services team was engaged as system integrator for the creation of DNA Welho Viihde, coordinating component selection and implementation throughout the delivery network with partners including SF Anytime content, Harmonic transcoding, Edgeware streaming and storage, ATES single sign-on, Conax conditional access, Cubiware set-top client, and INTEK set-top hardware.

“DNA is the TV market leader in Finland. Already today, we deliver TV content to over 900,000 Finnish homes through our cable and terrestrial offers,” said Mikko Saarentaus, Director of Television Business, DNA Ltd. “We are committed to expanding our entertainment offer even further, to cater to changing lifestyles and content consumption patterns. The launch of DNA Welho Viihde is a great start, and our efforts will not end here.

Saarentaus continued, “SeaChange Adrenalin is massively scalable for a multi-platform, multi-screen future, and allows us to effectively build on top of DNA Welho Viihde as we progress toward fulfilling our mission as the preferred provider of multi-platform television entertainment in Finland. We’ll also have the resources and reliability of SeaChange’s elite system integration and support workforce.”

SeaChange Adrenalin comprises a range of components for a multiscreen television software platform reaching across set-tops, tablets, smartphones, OTT players and other IP-connected devices.
