Astra Deutschland’s HD+ satellite DTH platform has extended its current contract with broadcasters, but the free viewing window is being reduced to six months.
The basis of the licence agreement is the current four-year contract, which expires on December 31, 2013.
However, broadcasters and HD+ have also agreed that all current cards sold during the first quarter of the new year will still have the free 12-months window.
Andreas Müller-Vondey, sales manager at HD+: “We are delighted that the successful approach can be continued. We have our partners informed personally about all details .
“All cards ordered before the deadline on November 28, 2013 will come with the currently valid runtime [of 12 months]. Any subsequent order is shipped under the new regime.”
HD+ had reached 1,280,783 paying homes on September 30, a growth of 35% this year.
The total number of HD+ homes has now reached almost 2.68 million, of which 1,4 million are still in the free 12-month trial period.
