ARRIS has released details of the IPTV headend it has built for BT.
The installation at the BT Tower in Central London is providing the distribution engine for both BT TV and BT Sport.

The headend solution designed by ARRIS has brought together solutions from Screen for DVB subtitling, Miranda for core processing functions, and Brocade for IP switches and routers. The solution was designed with encoder redundancy and separate disaster recovery capabilities to ensure the headend system can recover from any possible outages while bolstering capacity.

Both standard definition and high definition equipment has been installed including the SE-6501 and SE-6601 encoders and DM6400 Cherrypicker application platform.
