Paolo Agostinelli, Sky Italia’s VP of partner channels, is to become chief programming and strategy officer for Tata Sky. He will report to CEO Harit Nagpal.
Launched in 2004, Tata Sky is a joint venture between Tata Group and Star India.
The 43 year old holds an MBA from the Columbia Business School in New York. He recently launched Sky Italia’s on demand service. Previously a consultant with Bain & Company, Agostinelli joined Fastweb as Head of Marketing and later became Head of IPTV.
Agostinelli’s new position has led to new appointments within Sky Italia’s Programming Department: Luca Revelli will be in charge of relations with partner channels, in addition to his current position as Head of Digital Activities & Special Projects. Giovanni Uboldi will be in charge of the pay-per-view and Video on Demand offers. They will both report to Executive Vice President Programming Andrea Scrosati.
Commenting on the appointments, Sky Italia CEO Andrea Zappia said: “I am pleased for Paolo as this is a significant professional opportunity and I want to thank him for his outstanding contribution to Sky’s growth. This appointment makes me proud because it shows that in Italy we are able to grow talents able to fill the most coveted and prestigious roles in other markets. It also demonstrates the tremendous value created from belonging to a successful global group such as 21st Century Fox. I am certain that Luca Revelli and Giovanni Uboldi will be able to carry forward the good work done so far, continuing to strengthen our offering and increase subscriber satisfaction”.
