Aspiro TV transforms into NORIGIN MEDIA

August 27, 2013 11.27 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Aspiro TV is being taken over by its management and will be re-launched as a privately owned TV Everywhere company named NORIGIN MEDIA on September 1.

Its management will comprise of Espen Erikstad, CEO; Jussi Komonen, COO; and Ajey Anand, CCO, who have been with the company for many years and are responsible for signing agreements with leading operators such as Deutsche Telekom, which have contributed to the company’s significant organic growth to date.

NORIGIN MEDIA was previously owned by the Aspiro Group, part of Schibsted Media, and will remain based in Scandinavia.

It will offer versions of the OTT TV streaming solutions that Aspiro TV has offered as services since the company was founded in 2004.

Espen Erikstad said: We pride ourselves in maintaining our 10 year industry leadership position, hosting TV and video solutions for service providers that span the entire multi-screen OTT TV value chain. We recently launched our Hybrid Apps product, which is already being endorsed by a number of large operators, broadcasters and media companies”.

Jussi Komonen added: “Taking NORIGIN MEDIA into private ownership will give us a greater strategic focus, and allow us to stay ahead of this quickly developing technology market place. It will also allow us tactical flexibility in execution so we can be more responsive to customer needs. We already count many of the biggest names in broadcasting among our list of customers and we fully expect to capitalise on this position by becoming independent specialists.”

“Since we started the business we have had the pleasure of serving a number of tier 1 operators and broadcasters, such as Telenor, T-Mobile Europe, Telefonica O2, the BBC, Eurosports, FOX and MTV, across many countries,” said Ajey Anand. “Using our Hosted Live TV headend capacity, which captures hundreds of live channels, we have delivered live streaming of premium sports events for many years including the ‘Bundesliga’. We will continue to specialise and grow within this multi-screen OTT TV space and look forward to some new and exciting announcements about our (productized) Hybrid Apps and live TV hosting services.”

The company will exhibit at the IBC in Amsterdam, September 13th-17th, at the Connected World, Stand 14.272.
