CTC Media has decided to enter all its three channels – CTC, Domashny and Peretz – in the competition for slots on what will be Russia’s second multiplex.
Quoted by Kommersant, Boris Podolsky, the company’s DG, said that it was an important strategic decision that in the long term would increase market share, the amount of free cash flow and shareholder value.
The competition for 10 slots on the multiplex will take place on December 14 and will require each applicant to pay almost R772,000 (€19,200).
Those that are successful will then pay a further R26.095 million, plus a further R944 million annually. The second multiplex will allow broadcasters to reach up to 98% of the population.
