The first phase of Poland’s analogue switch off gets under way this coming Wednesday (November 7) in the voivodship of Lubuskie in the far west of the country.
It will also start in parts of neighbouring voivodshops and be followed by further switch offs in northern parts of Poland.
Commenting on the process and quoted by Wirtualne Media, Juliusz Braun, the president of the public broadcaster TVP, and Michal Poltorak, from the Office of Electronic Communication (UKE), said that there would be a risk of viewers who have bought German receivers (MPEG-2) not being able to receive Polish (MPEG-4) services.
However, on the plus side, viewers living close to Germany will be able to watch 30 German DTT channels in addition to Polish DTT services.
