Chellomedia’s agreement with CBS is likely to open up new opportunities for the company in Poland and could result in it launching more channels.
Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with Rzeczpospolita, Dominik Tzimas, regional sales director and country manager Poland and Chello Central Europe, said that the Chello channels soon to be rebranded as Europa, CBS action, CBS Reality and CBS Drama will from the onset have rights to TV Everywhere and these could be shared with operators right away.
While adding that Chello could launch more channels in Poland, he did not wish to provide any timeframe and said that at the moment the priority was the CBS channels.
Tzimas also said that there were no plans to distribute Chello channels via FTA DTT in Poland.
However, the company would be interested in securing carriage on a pay DTT multiplex, should one be launched.
He added that he was convinced that in the not-too-distant future the company would be also be operating in the OTT space.
