Russia is now deciding which frequency band to use for its third DTT multiplex.
AKTR and Telekomza report that following a study begun this July, experts have proposed one of two options, namely the VHF band between 174-230 MHz or the UHF band.
The final decision will have to meet with the approval of the military.
Once up and running, the third multiplex will distribute four regional channels, one of which will be in HD, to over 82 million people.
The first multiplex, which is already in operation, distributes eight channels and the second one will carry nine.
