In Brief: Telfort, A-Film, Ariane, UKTV

May 17, 2012 08.09 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Telfort, the low cost brand from Dutch incumbent KPN, has started to offer its IPTV service over the Reggefiber FTTH networks across the Netherlands. Triple play packages start at €47.50 monthly.

Dutch independent movie distributor A-Film signed deals with iTunes and Google’s YouTube to distribute a number of movie titles. Around 20 titles will be available on the distributor’s YouTube channel with more recent titles for sale in the iTunes store.

An Ariane 5 rocket has launched two communication satellites from Kourou in the night from Wednesday May 16 till Thursday May 17. They are the JCSAT-13 for Japan’s Sky Perfect and the VINASAT-2 for the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

UKTV has further extended its relationship with Channel 4 after signing a landmark deal for more than 350 hours of factual and lifestyle programming. The agreement includes a number of successful Channel 4 series such as Embarrassing Bodies and One Born Every Minute for Really, A Place in the Sun Home and Away and 4 In a Bed for Home, Jamie Oliver’s 30 Minute Meals and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage for Good Food, and Time Team for Yesterday.
