Poland’s Polsat is making a number of important changes to its sports channels.
According to Wirtualne Media, they will see the closure of Polsat Futbol and launch of a HD version of Polsat Sport Extra.
The former was launched in the autumn of 2009 and has had much lower audience shares (up to 0.03%) than the latter (0.17%).
Although there has been speculation that Polsat might launch a basketball channel, this has been denied by the broadcaster.
However, it is expected to develop its terrestrial sports channel Polsat Sport News.
Polsat currently operates a total of 12 thematic channels, four of which are dedicated to sport.
