ACC-BUCHAREST. Romania’s pay-TV market has essentially stagnated, with the cable and satellite sectors growing and contracting respectively in the first half of this year.
This assessment was given by Catalin Marinescu, the president of the National Authority for Communications (ANCOM), though unlike in previous ACC conferences he did not provide figures.
Commenting on other matters, he said that he hoped an ordinance transposing the Electronic Communications Law to European directives would shortly be implemented.
Marinescu added that net neutrality is in ANCOM’s view a topical issue with “high interest worldwide” and the regulator would like to hold a conference on the matter with the help of the local cable industry.
