The Polish public broadcaster TVP has inked a deal with the internet VOD service iplex.pl.
As a result, reports Gazeta Prawna, it will see subscribers to the service gain access to around 200 TVP productions free of charge.
Although TVP currently operates an online VOD service through its site tvp.pl, the market leaders in the sector remain TVN (VoD.onet.pl and – from August 26 – a new service named TVNPlayer) and Polsat (Ipla).
Iplex.pl was launched in 2008 and is the only internet VOD service to offer all its content free of charge to viewers.
Ad spend in the internet VOD sector is growing rapidly in Poland and projected to reach around PLN150 million (€35.7 million) by 2013.
