The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications has begun a new licensing round, utilising capacity in the existing DTT multiplexes.
In a statement the ministry said that where as in previous rounds not all the available licences had applicants, for the first time there was a situation where demand exceeded supply.
The supplementary application round covers multiplexes A, G, VHF A and VHF B. The licences will be valid until the end of 2016. The deadline is noon on August 1.
In Multiplex A there is capacity for a single programme licence. In the Uusimaa regional multiplex G, there is capacity available for five high definition channels or several standard definition channels.
Multiplex VHF A can provide space for two HD channels, while Multiplex VHF B can accommodate one HD channel or several SD channels.
