TeliaSonera is continuing to add to its IPTV customer base in all of its major markets. In its nine-month financials published today the Swedish-Finnish telco said that in Finland the company had reached the 200,000 milestone during the third quarter of the year to reach 207,000. Meanwhile in Sweden the number of video on demand rentals had already reached 1.5 million compared to just 1.2 million for the whole of 2009.
HDTV was also launched over ADSL in Sweden during the third quarter – HD services are also being rolled out over the terrestrial network by rival Teracom.
The total number of TV subscriptions is slowly edging up, increasing by 147,000 year-on-year and by 44,000 on the quarter to a total of 900,000. The total number of Swedish IPTV subscribers grew by 13,000 on the quarter to 431,000.
In Lithuania, another 7,000 TV subs were added to reach 121,000, a similar increase in Estonia took the installed base there to 118,000.
Third quarter revenues from the TV business grew by 20% year-on-year to reach SEK 886m (€95m), though still dwarfed by those from a declining voice market.
