IBC 2010 Connected World Stand IP601/Stand 1.A21. Strategy & Technology is to release a version of its popular TSBroadcaster Object/Data Carousel designed for the HbbTV standard that is gaining traction from European broadcasters, particularly in France and Germany.
TSBroadcaster is already a well-established product, used both in Europe and in the United States, with versions already covering DVB (MHEG-5 and MHP), OCAP and ETV platforms. The new HbbTV edition will be available in Q4 2010.
“This variant of TSBroadcaster will form an element of S&T’s integrated HbbTV solution,” said S&T managing director David Cutts. “We can now offer customers an extended suite of options for interactive TV supporting all the key standards. Enthusiasm from both the German and French market makes it clear that HbbTV is an important part of broadcaster’s plans and IBC is the perfect platform to show why our sophisticated technology is the preferred customer choice.”
All major German broadcasters have been broadcasting HbbTV apps since late last year and the IFA consumer electronics show, currently open in Berlin, has become a showcase for their activities.
