AppearTV has announced the launch of its new MPEG-2/4 SD and HD decoder. The new unit will make its appearance at IBC 2009 in Amsterdam this week and boasts the decoding of up to 30 channels in single 4RU chassis.
“The commercial HD market is rapidly expanding, and operators are therefore looking for ways to provide a growing number of services as efficiently as possible. Appear TV’s flexible approach enables operators to deploy high quality services that meet the requirements right now and also provide an easy upgrade path in the future,” said Thomas Lind, technical director, Appear TV.”
For those operators looking towards an HD-only approach, the decoder allows for the transition to high definition from standard definition services through HD to SD conversion.
