The Dutch religious channel Family7 has secured digital basic carriage on the Ziggo network. It will be distributed by the cabler from February 1. At the moment, Family7 is only carried on a few smaller cable systems and on the basic analogue tier at Ziggo in the provinces of Zuid Holland (South) and Flevoland, reaching about 700,000 homes.
With the new addition, the evangelical Family7 will reach a further 1 million homes that take the Ziggo digital TV service. Last year, Family7 was removed from the UPC network due to “insufficient demand” from subscribers.
Family7 experienced serious competition from two evangelical channels from the public broadcasting system, Omega TV from EO and Geloven from NCRV. The two public channels have now merged, making room for Family7.
