PIKE, ZAKOPANE. Almost one in five Polish TV homes (17%) in large cities now have HD-ready TV sets, while in the country as a whole the figure is nearly one in ten (8.9%).
The figures were provided by Jaroslaw Pijanowski (UPC Polska) and Dariusz Rocki (TNS OBOP) respectively in a debate on how premium content should be addressed to cable operators.
Pijanowski added that although there are already 12 HD channels available in Poland, UPC Polska is unable to offer them all at present due to capacity limitations.
Polsat Sport HD, for instance, requires 15Mbps per client. He added that UPC Polska remains focussed on offering subscribers premium content and such advanced services as SVOD and catch-up TV.
