PIKE, ZAKOPANE. The new Polish pre-paid DTH service Telewizja na karte (TNK) is using the UK’s Freesat as its template, according to Tomasz Berezowski, the director of the technology department and a member of the management board at TVN.
He added that TNK should not be seen as a service that is disrupting Poland’s DTH market, leading to possible consolidation, but rather as a complementary offer to subscribers.
Although Berezowski refused to give any customer target numbers, he said that the 100,000 secured by Freesat in its five months of operation was a good benchmark.
It should be noted that unlike TNK, Freesat has no ongoing costs.
