Although News Corp may have decided to pull out of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), some of its TV stations in the region continue to perform extraordinarily well.
According to data produced by TNS Latvia, LNT was the most watched service in Latvia in August, claiming an audience share of 18.7%. Second placed TV3, backed by Sweden’s Modern Times Group (MTG), was in second place with 13.7%, followed by the public broadcaster’s first and second channels LTV1 and LTV7, claiming 10.1% and 9.1% respectively.
TV5 Riga, which like LNT is owned by News Corp, accounted for 4.1% of viewers. News Corp is expected to sell is interests in Latvia in the next few months.
