The Slovak commercial broadcaster TV Joj will launch a new cable and satellite delivered channel named Joj Plus in early October.
According to local reports, Joj Plus, which has just been awarded a licence by the Slovak Council for Broadcasting and Retransmission, will be on air for 24 hours daily and allocate 80% of its airtime to mostly classic movies and series. The remaining 20% will be given over to documentaries and in-house productions.
Data published by the Slovak public broadcaster STV indicates that TV Joj was the third most watched channel in Slovakia over a 24-hour period in the last week of August. It claimed an audience share of 15.0%, behind second placed STV1 (16.1%) and the CME-owned market leader Markiza (33.7%).
