In a landmark deal with the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, German IPTV provider Arcor will launch a Restart TV service from September onwards. The company claims to be the first in the market to offer such a service.
With the Restart TV functionality, viewers will be able to start a programme from the beginning already in progress when they are zapping through the channels. Every individual request will cost the user €0.49.
Although Arcor has already been offering this service for Bloomberg and BBC World News, this is the first time an agreement with a major commercial broadcaster has been reached. The Arcor IPTV service currently offers over 110 TV channels.
The IPTV provider has also said it will extend its technical reach with more cities during the next few weeks. The number of potential number will increase with 12 million.
