Spain’s vice president Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega has ruled out a return to pay DTT. It follows recent statements by the sports rights holder Mediapro on plans to launch a new football channel on the DTT system.
While confirming the Spanish government was drafting a new audiovisual law, de la Vega denied that this would include a pay-TV element as part of the digital terrestrial system.
The new law will bring Spanish media legislation into line with the new European Audio Visual Directive. The country is expected to complete digital switchover in 2010.
