Poland’s Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has confirmed that it expects to see the launch of a DVB-H service in the country at the beginning of next year.
Interviewed by the business channel TVN CNBC Biznes, UKE’s president Anna Strezynska added that licence holders would be required to fully utilise frequencies within 24 months of their award or risk losing them.
She also said that she expects negotiations with Russia over DVB-H frequencies to be concluded within a week, stressing that there had been no disagreement between the two countries but rather a “lack of conception” on the part of Russia how best to use the frequencies.
UKE remains on track to announce a DVB-H tender later this month.
