Portugal Telecom SGPS has said its pay-TV service Meo has reached 100,000 subscribers.
In a statement the company said that Meo subscriptions account for 15% of its ADSL subscriber base with 53,000 subs coming in the second quarter to date, more than double the figure for the first quarter.
Meo uses a combination of IPTV and satellite, from Hispasat, to complete its triple play proposition.
Separately, Meo introduced the Disney Channel to its basic package on June 1 and since June 7 has been exclusively broadcasting the Euro 2008 championship in HD following an agreement with TVI. The Olympic Games will also be available in high definition through Eurosport HD.
