Strategy & Technology has announced it has licensed its RedKey 2 MHEG-5 middleware to Humax.
The set-top box manufacturer is using the software engine to drive the interactive TV elements of its Foxsat HD digital set-top box that has been released to coincide with the launch of the Freesat platform.
Bob Hannent, Chief Technologist, Humax said previous use of S&T technology had given the company faith to embark on a substantial rebuild of its MHEG engine. “The confidence of S&T in approaching new technology and in working to grow MHEG is in line with the Humax philosophy and this was very important.”
Hannent added that as the Humax product range grew it would be possible to integrate different aspects of the RedKey 2 engine without any risk to existing development work.
