This summer, Dutch DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet will carry the HD version of public channel Nederland 1 from June 1 till August 24. The provider has reached an agreement with the Dutch pubic broadcaster NPO.
The HD channel will be part of the regular HD bouquet, which Canal Digitaal offers on Astra at 23.5 degrees East. The Dutch broadcasters will simulcast Nederland 1 in order to bring coverage of the Beijing Olympics and the Euro 2008 football championship in HD.
The public channel will also be carried by the three Zesko cable networks, Casema, Multikabel and @Home. Talks with UPC are still ongoing.
In related news, Canal Digitaal and TV Vlaanderen also said they will add E!Entertainment to their line-up of thematic channels at 23.5 degrees East from May 1. For the past month, the channel has already been available on the platform’s showcase channel. During the month of may The History Channel will be shown on the showcase channel.
