Vividas casts live

August 8, 2007 17.57 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

IBC 2007 (Stand 4.370a)

Streaming video specialist Vividas is launching the latest version of its VivCast Live Professional software which enables live streaming from events. Live streaming is something relatively new to the company whose platforms have so far been used primarily for on demand streaming of trailers for Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures and UIP, promo’s and advertising for companies like Ford, Zurich, Foster’s Group, and Nestle, as well as a number of short films such as http://www.handmadefilmsonline.com/.

The main focus of Vividas is to deliver full-screen video over the internet. It uses the ON2 VP 6 and 7 codecs, also used by other streaming vendors such as Adobe’s Flash, for its streaming technology. No seperate player is required as Vividas uses an active-x plugin that allows the video to play in an Internet browser. From personal experience as a webvideo viewer, over the past year, it simply works. Vividas claims to offer up to HD quality, so we can always discuss the video quality on offer, but full screen video at higher bitrates and quality are viewed without a glitch.
