The Czech public broadcaster CT has asked the country’s Telecom Office (CTU) if it can bring the launch of its DTT multiplex forward to later this year. The roll out of DTT services began in the Czech Republic in Q4 2005 and they are currently available – albeit in limited form – in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Domazlice near the German border. Although analogue switch off has been set for 2010, the deadline is looking increasingly unlikely to be met. Separately, the Czech Camber of Deputies has approved the dissolution of the country’s IT Ministry, with its powers being passed to the ministries of Interior, Trade and Industry and of Local Government.
