Flemish cable operator Interkabel announced it will introduce its first HD bouquet on the iN-Di digital service including an HD version of commercial broadcaster VTM. In Germany, Unity Media has announced it will launch the Premiere HD channels before the summer.
The introduction of HD on the Interkabel networks is a first for Belgium. The bouquet will offer an HD version of VTM with a mix of original HD programming such as the news and tv series that have been shot in HD and electronically upscaled versions of SD programming. The other channels in the package are HD1, Flemish cultural channel Exqui (also from Euro1080) and National Geographic HD.
In Germany cable operator Unity Media has confirmed it will launch the Premiere HD channels on their ish and iesy networks before the summer. Premiere offers HD versions of sports, movies and Discovery HD. Other German operators, including KDG and Kabel BW, already offer the Premiere HD channels. At the moment there are 8 HD channels available on the German market including Annixe HD and HD versions of Sat.1 and ProSieben.
