BBC Sport has confirmed that this year’s Six Nations rugby competition will be screened in high definition. Coverage on BBC HD and BBC One will begin with the England-Scotland clash at 16.00 on February 3.
“We’ve had terrific feedback on our trial HD broadcasts in other sports, so this is a major step forward for our coverage of the Six Nations,” said Roger Mosey, BBC Director of Sport.
Live coverage of each match will also be available on the BBC website for viewers in the UK. Video highlights of every match will also be available at full and halftime.
Interactive coverage will be shown in the multiscreen format for the first time. Interactive viewers will be able to enjoy alternative commentaries and match highlights, though only on BBC One’s standard definition feed. Live coverage of other sporting events will also be available through the multiscreen in what will be the first weekend without the BBC’s long running sports programme Grandstand.
