Gamecast UK has been fined £100,000 after a series of breaches of the Ofcom broadcasting code and its licence conditions. The regulator said the broadcaster had breached the Ofcom Broadcasting Code on three counts on its You TV3 channel.
Competitions had not been conducted fairly, programmes had been shown at times unsuitable for children and BBFC R18-rated films or equivalent had also been screened. You TV3 had also failed to supply the regulator with recordings of its programmes in a readable format as required under its Television Licensable Content Service licence.
However it has emerged that You TV3 did not even have an Ofcom licence, erroneously believing that it was covered under the licence it held for You TV2. The regulator explained that it was only permitted to run a timeshifted version of You TV2.
The channel has subsequently moved from the entertainment section of the Sky EPG to the Adult section where it runs a service promoting adult chatlines.
