Wolfgang Elsäßer, former managing director of Astra Deutschland, will head the new business unit TV at German telco Deutsche Telekom.
“We are very happy to have won the acknowledged TV expert Wolfgang Elsäßer for our important growth segment TV,” said Michael Hagspihl, managing director, private consumers, Telekom Deutschland. “TV is an important emotional value for our customers, and our strong Entertain platform considerably differentiates us from competition. The creation of the new business unit TV reflects the increasing importance of video for Telekom.”
Elsäßer added: “I am very happy to write, jointly with my team, the next chapter of Entertain TV at Telekom Deutschland. Telekom is perfectly equipped to position itself even more successfully in the German media industry by combining the best from both worlds – linear and non-linear – in a unique way at Entertain TV. That is a great mission!”
Elsäßer left Astra Deutschland on May 1, 2016. His successor at the German subsidiary of Luxembourg-based satellite operator SES is Christoph Mühleib. Previously, Elsäßer worked at Grundig and Premiere (now Sky Deutschland).
