Kaltura has helped Vodafone Spain to launch new catch-up and VOD services in record time.
The new services make it possible for subscribers to access Vodafone’s catalogue of on demand and catch up content from the STB. It runs on Kaltura’s backend OTT TV software. Subscribers are able to personalise what they choose to view through advanced content discovery, recommendations, favorites and watch lists.
All of the STBs run a dedicated Vodafone Spain-branded web application, which integrates with the catch-up metadata, and subscriber management on the Kaltura backend, deployed in the cloud. For Vodafone Spain’s fibre subscribers, the new services also feature rolling buffering, adaptive bitrate and on-the-fly encryption to further enhance the experience.
“Working with Vodafone Spain on this project, with such ambitious launch dates, has been extremely rewarding. By launching new OTT services on their STBs using our modular, unified backend, Vodafone Spain is opening up a world of on-demand content to existing and new subscribers. It will also allow them to build new revenue streams. We look forward to partnering with Vodafone Spain on the next deployment phase,” commented Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Co-founder, Chairman and CEO.
Vodafone Spain is running its IPTV service in parallel with its Ono cable TV operation.
