Liberty Global is combining its cable assets in Austria and Switzerland into a single organisation based in Zurich.
Starting August 1 Eric Tveter, the current managing director of UPC Cablecom in Switzerland, will become CEO of the newly created Swiss and Austrian region.
At the same time Thomas Hintze, currently managing director of UPC Austria, has been appointed chairman of UPC Austria. He will report into Tveter.
Diederik Karsten, executive vice President of Liberty Global’s European Broadband Operations said: “Eric Tveter is ideally positioned to take his new role for the Austria/Switzerland region with more than 30 years of experience in the cable industry and a proven track record at Liberty Global. In the course of the last five years, he led the successful turnaround of the Swiss business. UPC Austria is in a stable position today and both operations are poised for further growth.”
Eric Tveter joined UPC Cablecom as managing director in May 2009. The American citizen was president of UK cable operator Telewest Global Inc. (2004 to 2006) and held a range of senior management positions at Time Warner Cable, Comcast Corporation and Cablevision Systems Corporation.
