Canal+ has launched a mobile TV application in Apple’s App Store that provides on the go reception for iPhone or iPod Touch users over 3G networks or a Wi-fi connection.
The new application offers free access to the ‘open window’ programming of Canal+ (the daily slots that are broadcast unencrypted), as well as to the 2- hour all-news channel i-Tele.
In addition, people can subscribe to a bouquet of Canal+ channels comprising Canal+, Canal+ Cinema, Canal+ Sport, Canal+ Decale, Canal+ Family, as well as access to the catch-up TV service Canal+a la demande. This bouquet costs €20 a month. A similar service has been introduced in the UK by BSkyB.
The operator is also offering a CanalSat bouquet of over 50 channels, of which 20 are exclusive. They include i-Tele, Eurosport, Disney XD, June, Planete and MCM Top. This package is available for €9 a month.
At the same time, Canal has introduced the Web+ Mobile service, which allows people to access the Canal+ channels on their PC as well as on their mobile. A special version for CanalSat subscribers will also be offered in 2010.
