Some 3.7 million Romanians access the internet on a daily basis, while almost two-thirds (59.8%) of Romanian homes in urban areas have an internet connection.
The former figure is contained in a study conducted by the Romanian Audit Bureau of Circulation (BRAT) and the latter in the National Audience Survey (SNA), both published by ZF.
The studies also show that 22.4% of internet users access the net via cable, 17.5% use dial up and 10.5% neighbourhood networks.
RCS/RDS (cable, fibre optic) is the leading provider of internet services in urban parts of Romania, followed by Romtelecom (ADSL), UPC (cable) and Zapp (CDMA/3G).
